Herringbone & Parquet Flooring

Specialist patterns

Herringbone & parquet flooring, fitted right

Herringbone and parquet are back in a big way — and they live or die on the setting-out. Ben fits them in engineered wood and LVT across London, Essex and the M4, laid with the precision the pattern demands.

Patterns that reward a specialist

A herringbone or parquet floor is only as good as its setting-out. Get the centre line, angles and border wrong and every plank shows it; get them right and the room transforms. It is slower, more skilled work than a standard plank floor — which is exactly why it pays to use a fitter who lays it regularly.

Ben fits herringbone and parquet in engineered wood and in LVT, and prepares the subfloor properly first so the finished pattern stays flat and tight for years.

Ways to lay it

Engineered

Engineered wood herringbone

A real-wood top layer in a classic herringbone or chevron, stable enough for underfloor heating.

Parquet

Solid parquet blocks

Traditional solid wood blocks for a characterful, restorable floor.

LVT

LVT herringbone

Hard-wearing, water-resistant luxury vinyl in herringbone — ideal for kitchens and busy homes.

Chevron

Chevron & borders

Chevron, double herringbone and border details, set out and cut to suit the room.

Herringbone & parquet questions

Does herringbone cost more to fit?

Yes — the pattern takes longer to set out and cut, so labour is higher than a straight-lay floor. The finish is worth it, and your home-visit quote will be exact.

Engineered or LVT herringbone — which is better?

Engineered wood gives you real timber and warmth; LVT herringbone is more water-resistant and hard-wearing for kitchens and busy areas. Ben will talk you through both.

Can herringbone go over underfloor heating?

Engineered and LVT herringbone are generally UFH-compatible within the manufacturer’s limits. Ben matches the product to your system.

Do you prepare the subfloor first?

Always. Herringbone shows every dip, so the subfloor is levelled and made sound before a single plank goes down.
