Laminate flooring, supplied & fitted
Modern laminate is a smart, hard-wearing and great-value choice — a high-resolution wood or stone décor under a tough protective wear layer, on a dense HDF core. Today’s ranges look far more realistic than older laminates, with embossed textures and bevelled edges, plus water-resistant options that suit kitchens and busy family homes.
The key spec is the AC rating, which tells you how hard-wearing the surface is. Ben fits click-system laminate with quality underlay, neat scotia or beading and clean thresholds at every doorway.
| AC rating | Best suited to |
|---|---|
| AC3 | Most homes — bedrooms, living rooms, lighter-traffic areas |
| AC4 | Busy households, hallways and light commercial use |
| AC5 | Heavy domestic and commercial wear |

Laminate flooring questions
Is laminate flooring waterproof?
Standard laminate is water-resistant on the surface but not fully waterproof. For kitchens and utility rooms we recommend a water-resistant range and seal the perimeter and doorways.
What is an AC rating?
It is a durability scale from AC1 to AC5. AC3 suits most homes, while AC4–AC5 are built for heavy domestic and commercial wear.
Can laminate be fitted over underfloor heating?
Yes, with a compatible range and the correct underlay. We follow the maximum surface-temperature guidance so the floor performs as it should.
Do you supply the underlay and beading?
Yes — underlay, scotia or beading and neat door bars are all included in our fitting.
How does laminate compare with LVT or engineered wood?
Laminate is the best value, LVT is the most water-resistant, and engineered wood is real timber. See our comparison guide for the full picture.
