Natural, lacquered or oiled finishes. The British classic — works in period homes and new builds alike.

Walnut & dark woods

Rich, warm, dramatic. Great for living rooms with plenty of natural light to balance the depth.

Herringbone parquet

Real wood, laid in the traditional pattern. Three to five days for a whole ground floor — done properly.

Underfloor-heating compatible

Engineered wood’s stable base handles modern UFH systems where solid wood would warp.

The mobile showroom comes to you.

Engineered wood deserves the time to do it right. Our in-house team acclimatises the boards in your home, levels the subfloor, then lays each board to a master-fitter standard. The result reads as a single, considered floor.

Engineered wood flooring, supplied & fitted

Engineered wood gives you a genuine hardwood surface — usually oak, sometimes walnut or ash — bonded to a stable plywood or HDF core. That core makes it far less prone to gapping and cupping than solid wood, so it copes well with central heating and is one of the best real-wood options for underfloor heating. Ben supplies and fits narrow and wide planks, brushed and oiled finishes, and herringbone & parquet patterns.

A thicker wear layer means the floor can be sanded and refreshed in years to come. We help you match the board width, tone and finish to your room, then fit it properly with the right expansion gaps over a clean, level subfloor.

Engineered wood questions

Is engineered wood real wood?

Yes — the top layer is genuine hardwood (usually oak). Only the stable core beneath is engineered, which is what stops it gapping and cupping like solid wood can.

Can you fit engineered wood with underfloor heating?

Yes. It is one of the most underfloor-heating-friendly real-wood floors. We check the subfloor, let the boards acclimatise to the room and follow the heating manufacturer’s guidance.

Can engineered wood be sanded and refinished later?

Yes, if the wear layer is thick enough — around 3–4 mm or more can be sanded back several times over its life.

Do you fit herringbone and parquet?

Yes — see our herringbone & parquet page. We set the pattern out carefully and prepare the subfloor first.

Do you supply the wood or fit only?

Both — supply and fit from trusted brands, or fit engineered wood you have already bought.
