Solid wood flooring, supplied & fitted
Solid wood flooring is exactly that — each board milled from a single piece of timber, usually oak. It’s a timeless, premium floor that can be sanded and refinished many times over its life, so it can last for decades. Ben supplies and fits solid wood to a precise, lasting finish.
Because solid timber moves with changes in temperature and humidity, it needs to be acclimatised and fitted correctly, with the right expansion gaps and subfloor. That’s where an experienced fitter matters — done properly, a solid wood floor is one of the finest you can own.
Solid wood vs engineered wood
Both give you a real-wood surface. Solid wood is a single piece of timber and can be sanded the most times, but is more sensitive to moisture and isn’t generally recommended over underfloor heating. Engineered wood has a real-wood top layer on a stable core, making it more forgiving and the better choice for kitchens, conservatories and underfloor heating.

Solid wood questions
What’s the difference between solid and engineered wood?
Solid wood is one piece of timber throughout; engineered wood has a real-wood top layer on a stable core. Solid can be sanded more often; engineered copes better with moisture and underfloor heating.
Can solid wood go over underfloor heating?
Generally not recommended — solid timber moves too much with heat. For underfloor heating we’d suggest engineered wood instead.
Can you sand and refinish solid wood later?
Yes — that’s one of its big advantages; a solid wood floor can be sanded back several times over its life.
Do you supply the wood or fit only?
Both — supply and fit, or our fit-only service if you’ve bought your own.
